VVJ Out and About: 2012 XPoNential Music Festival

Vintage Vinyl Journals was excited to be invited to the 2012 XPoNential Music Festival as a vendor!   Due to scheduling conflicts we decided to vend for just one day of the three-day festival.  We had a great time and met some really nice people that shared a lot of our same interests.

In the midst of vending we got to see some amazing musical performances including Delta Rae and Kathleen Edwards.

The highlight of the event was for VVJ owner, Katie Pietrak, to meet Kathleen Edwards.  Meeting one of your favorite artists, speaking with them, shaking their hand, having them like your product and posing for a picture with you…is, well, priceless. We hate to use that analogy but it really is.  We reckon this to meeting your favorite baseball player, TV star, favorite author….

Kathleen makes some really great, open and honest music.  We’ve liked her since her debut album, Failer, and somehow she just keeps getting better. Her latest album, Voyageur, is superb. A Soft Place to Land, Change the Sheets, Going to Hell, Sidecar, Pink Champagne, Chameleon/Comedian… well her entire album is just that, superb.

Kathleen was very sweet in person and seems “just like a regular person”.  We will spare you the rest of the details but Katie felt a little embarrassed for commenting on her personal life, Kathleen revealing secrets and personal information like one of her girlfriends would.

When you meet someone that you really admire, someone whose music has had an effect on your life, someone who you feel connected to although you’ve never met – you feel honored and that is how Katie felt after meeting Kathleen.

We thank Kathleen for making our day, week, month, year. We hope that she puts her new journal (New Kids on the Block btw, and, yes, she picked it out) to good use and starts recording her thoughts for some new music… not that we’re rushing her… but, just saying…

This post got a little sidetracked, and we apologize… we want to thank everyone that stopped by and visited us at the XPN Fest.  It was a great time and everyone had all good things to say about our journals.  Enjoy our festivals photos:
